====== FrOSCon 2008 aka the DokuWiki Hackdays ======

As [[http://foosel.org/blog/2008/06/dokuwiki_hackathon_froscon_2008|previously announced]], this weekend marked the first ever [[http://www.dokuwiki.org/devel:devsummit|DokuWiki meetup]] at this year's [[http://froscon.org|FrOSCon]]. I arrived at Siegburg/Bonn on Friday at around 19:30 and -- after checking in at my [[http://www.hotel-hangelar.de|hotel]] which I btw definitely recommend -- spent the evening eating and chit-chatting in a nice Pizzeria with [[http://splitbrain.org|Andreas Gohr]], [[http://chimeric.de|Michael Klier]] and Guy Brand. 

Saturday and Sunday were both mostly dedicated to coding((Among other things, the XMLRPC API saw some work from Michael Klier's and my side, and [[http://www.content-space.de/dokuwiki/blog/2008/dokufs_2008-06-21|DokuFS]] made some steps forward as well thanks to Michael Hamann.)) and discussing DokuWiki((WYSIWYG and farming)), and thanks to this I actually did not attend any talks at all, although the keynotes by [[http://programm.froscon.org/2008/events/278.en.html|Andrew Tanenbaum]] and [[http://programm.froscon.org/2008/events/277.en.html|Rasmus Lerdorf]] as well as [[http://programm.froscon.org/2008/events/272.en.html|a talk about documentation]] were on my list. Given how awesome it was to meet all those nice people((The attendees were -- in no particular order -- Guy Brand, Michael Klier, Andreas Gohr, Florian Feldhaus, Pierre Spring, Christopher Smith, Michael Hamann and myself)) for the first time ever in real-life and how much fun we had((I got my ass kicked in a Mario Kart DS cup ;-))), I don't regret this a bit though :-) Even the two guys from [[http://twiki.org|TWiki]] paying us a visit on Saturday seemed to feel comfortable ;-)

Sadly, I had to leave at around 15:50 on Sunday to catch my train in Siegburg (which then actually was cancelled thanks to some problem with its engine what then caused me spending one hour something sitting on the floor in the substitute train -- did I mention that I simply love the Deutsche Bahn?). Even though I'm awfully tired and will prolly have to survive this week with this being the case, I //thoroughly// enjoyed the weekend, and I really hope there will be a next time for all that grouphugging ;-) and productivity boost, even if there are no DokuWiki stickers((I had such a hard time resisting the urge to plaster my workplace today *cough*)) or a drink-of-your-choice flatrate at some social event((That was quite fun actually!)) :-D
